A Married Couple Becomes Distraught About Their Excessive And Irresponsible Drinking And Questions Whether They Display Any Alcoholism Signs

Angie and Lenny have been married for seven years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have a family and so they consciously created an exceptionally vigorous social life.

The major problem, it needs to be highlighted, is that virtually everything they do for excitement has something to do with drinking. For instance, all of the family get-togethers, dinner engagements, parties with friends, happy hours, and sporting events they frequent somehow include drinking.

If they were moderate or responsible drinkers this wouldn't be a big problem. Because they drink quite heavily, nevertheless, they are starting to notice some clearly identifiable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For example, Lenny recently received a second DUI and has been shirking responsibilities at work due to alcohol-related health problems. In addition, Lenny's last two performance reviews at the office have been less than average and he has started to fail to remember what he does or says when he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to exhibit apprehension about his drinking circumstances.

Similarly, Angie has been feeling depressed with life and to cope with these feelings, she has been drinking more often than any time in the past year. Not only this, but Angie has been experiencing more than a few throbbing migraine headaches and suffering from terrible hangovers due to her drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling notably less energetic in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least once per week, and she has been getting some unhelpful criticism from her friends, family members, coworkers, and relatives about her abusive drinking.

One Friday evening while watching TV, Angie and Lenny flipped through the channels and discovered a documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This TV special was a real eye opener to Lenny and Angie because more than a few of the alcohol facts that were gone over looked like they were unswervingly associated with numerous drinking problems Angie and Lenny had been experiencing.

With thoughts of the TV special still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol addiction signs they have been exhibiting could mean that they are alcoholic or maybe becoming alcoholic. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the therapists at the nearby alcohol abuse treatment center to find out more about the severity of their drinking situation.

Ironically, even though their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was apparent that Lenny and Angie were at least addressing their drinking problems, they were ready to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were concerned about how they could significantly cut back on or eliminate the drinking-related problems that had started to emerge.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that night, they decided that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehabilitation center located in the middle of town. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to defeat the drinking problems that had cropped up in their lives, they in point of fact had the best night's sleep they could recollect in the last seven weeks.
